I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contribution to our greatest event of the year!
With over 1,000 people through our building in just over 3 hours, Dia de los Muertos hit the news and helped Cottonwood wind down what has been a wonderful year of growth and capitalizing on opportunities. We have come a long way in the past twelve months!
Tish Lacy Reed and her committee (too many to list), did a FANTASTIC job of curating the show, feeding the masses and orchestrating a wildly successful event. Thank you Tish for your knowledge and enthusiasm and for your continued willingness to take this event ‘to the next level’.
Friday night saw good art sales in many studios and even a few in the Gallery. The hallways were packed with people and studios were overflowing. Belly Dancers, a stilt walker, Communidance and music throughout the building. Cottowood was featured on Channel 5 news throughout their live show on Friday morning and I would like to thank Neil Talbott and Tish for joining me and supporting Cottonwood at the crazy hour of 4.30 a.m. for the interviews. It was so exciting to be a part of this celebration.
Next year we look forward to possibly going National with the Call for Entries.
The exibition has only begun so, if you have not had a chance to view it, please come to Herbertson and Spittler galleries and take some time viewing the collection jurored by Rodney Wood. Rodney’s workshop yesterday was, by all accounts, a great success and we look forward to the Brown Bag Lunch with Joe Barrera.
Again, my thanks to you all for your contribution and for your continued support of Cottonwood Center for the Arts.
Sandy Murphy
